The Neon Lawyer by Victor Methos

the neon laywerBlurb from goodreads.com, please scroll down for my review.

Based on a true story.
THE MOST TRAGIC EVENT A PARENT CAN FACE…
As though something torn from her nightmares, Amanda Pierce loses her daughter in the most horrific way possible. With unbearable pain eating away at her every day, she decides to take the law into her own hands, and kills the man responsible.
THE CASE OF A LIFETIME…
Brigham Theodore has just graduated law school and, with a legal market saturated with lawyers, accepts a position in a firm run by less than upstanding citizens. Though probably a criminal himself, his boss trusts him to handle criminal cases early on.
And Brigham is given a case he cannot refuse. The murder of a murderer. Amanda Pierce seems meek and frail, not at all like the picture Brigham has in his head of what a murderer should look like. He finds himself obsessed with her case and agrees to defend her.
WITH TIME RUNNING OUT, BRIGHAM MUST MAKE A CHOICE…
The state has offered to spare Amanda Pierce’s life if she pleads to the murder. If she chooses to fight, she will be facing the death penalty. The first woman in the state of Utah to do so.
Battling an experienced, aggressive prosecutor with every resource at his disposal, this case is a war Brigham isn’t certain hecan win. But with his client’s life on the line, he has no choice but to fight…

My Review.

I loved it, it was a little short, at 206 pages, I wanted more, I found it hard to put down. The writing is good and the author is knowledgeable with the subject. I found myself wanting to know a little bit more about the main character, Brigham Theodore, (what a great name, certainly stands out). I enjoyed the beginning, where Brigham passes the bar and sets out on a new life as a lawyer, it made me feel as if there will be more books with this character and at the end also. I hope there will be more books like this soon.

My only complaint would be the fact that a newly graduated lawyer is given a murder case, with the death penalty. Not sure about that one, but once I had gotten over that it was a great book, if you have a couple of hours to spare go ahead and read this short book.

I will be looking out for more of the authors books; hopefully it will be another Brigham novel.
