Conclave by Robert Harris

The Pope is dead.
Behind the locked doors of the Sistine Chapel, one hundred and eighteen cardinals from all over the globe will cast their votes in the world’s most secretive election.
They are holy men. But they have ambition. And they have rivals.
Over the next seventy-two hours one of them will become the most powerful spiritual figure on earth.

My Review

I haven’t read any books by Robert Harris until today. This is a very interesting book about the Conclave and it’s process, certainly different from my usual read, that I did find interesting, I did find myself being drawn into the main characters and also to see who was elected, with ambition, scandals, corruption and even terrorism, but the book is lacking excitement and thrills, yes, I though this would have something sinister within it’s pages. But no, apart from that I did love the ending which caught me out.
